Paul McCartney's new album 'The Boys of Dungeon Lane' reflects on family and Beatles memories

Paul McCartney, 83, has released a new album titled 'The Boys of Dungeon Lane' that centers on family and friends. The 14-track album includes 'memory songs' about his Liverpool childhood, birdwatching on the Mersey, and his Beatles bandmates John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. McCartney recorded the album over five years with producer Andrew Watt. The opening track 'As You Lie There' was written in 2020 during a green tea session with Watt. Another song, 'Lost Horizon', was rescued from an early 2000s demo preserved by his late engineer Eddie Klein. McCartney also discusses the impact of Peter Jackson's 'Get Back' documentary, which he says changed his view of the Beatles' breakup. He has taught actor Paul Mescal to play guitar for Sam Mendes' upcoming four-part Beatles biopics, due in 2028. McCartney is also considering a Beatles museum in London and praised ABBA's Voyage hologram concerts. The album has been called 'a late-career masterpiece' by Rolling Stone and 'McCartney's best album of the 21st Century' by Variety.
