Paul Johnson's Studio Dismantled and Reconstructed in London Exhibition
From 7 April to 18 June 2017, Camden Arts Centre in London showcased Paul Johnson's installation, which involved taking apart his studio and reassembling its components in Gallery 3. The exhibition featured forty pieces, including two collections: 'Table top' and 'Mine', the latter showcasing a collage of photocopies of Johnson's studio floor alongside stoneware casts of coffee-cup lids. Among the highlighted works were Human, a paper-pulp cast of a car tire, and Server-8 & Tower-188, a stack of black plastic crates. Architectural features such as Studio Door and P. Copier were also included. The exhibition challenged the boundaries between raw materials and completed artworks, as noted in ArtReview's Summer 2017 edition.
