Patti Smith on Her Evolving Appreciation of Andy Warhol

She explains that while her own artistic approach is transformative, she has come to appreciate Warhol's work over the years. As a young artist, she found nothing interesting in his work, despite her partner, photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, calling him a genius. However, after the tragedy of September 11, she missed Warhol as an artist, believing he would have known how to document such an event.
