Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Opens New Foundation Island in Venice Lagoon

Collector Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo will open the new headquarters of the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation on the island of San Giacomo, between Murano and Burano, on May 7. The foundation, which has championed contemporary art since the 1990s, will present Matt Copson's solo exhibition "Fanfare/Lament," curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, with music by Oliver Leith. Six additional installations by Goshka Macuga, Pamela Rosenkranz, Claire Fontaine, Thomas Schütte, Hugh Hayden, and Mario García Torres will be placed in the island's garden. During the Venice Biennale, Sandretto Re Rebaudengo also looks forward to works by Michael Armitage and Amar Kanwar at Palazzo Grassi, the Uzbek Pavilion featuring Xin Liu (who opened a solo show at the foundation in Turin on April 15), and the Italian Pavilion by Chiara Camoni. She cites Giovanni Bellini's San Zaccaria Altarpiece as a personal touchstone.
