Patrick Tuttofuoco's neon sculpture 'X' lights up Milan's new Vetra Building
A site-specific neon sculpture by Patrick Tuttofuoco, titled 'X', will be unveiled on November 11 on the facade of the newly renovated Vetra Building in Milan. The building, formerly the civic tax office (ex esattoria civica) built between 1959 and 1963 by Ferdinando Reggiori, has been redesigned by architecture firm Il Prisma for owner Axa Investment. The renovation opened up a small internal piazza with planters and benches, connecting Via Fernanda Wittgens to San Lorenzo Maggiore. A new food district will occupy the portico area. The sculpture's unveiling will be attended by Mayor Giuseppe Sala. Artribune, under artistic direction by Helga Marsala, curated the intervention. The work is a large luminous installation exploring contact and relationship between people, places, and temporal layers, linking Milan's future to its history (Basilica of San Lorenzo, Roman amphitheater, Porta Ticinese). The project is under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan.
