Patrick Tuttofuoco's Neon and Marble Works Explore Transcendence in Bologna

exhibition · 2026-04-27

For ART CITY 2024, Palazzo De’ Toschi in Bologna presents 'Abbandonare gli occhi,' a solo exhibition by Milanese artist Patrick Tuttofuoco (b. 1974). The show focuses on transcendence—a semi-conscious state that reinterprets everyday life. Central works include 'Pink Limen,' a marble sculpture of the artist's own inert body (a new medium for Tuttofuoco), and the neon piece 'Drop the body.' In the second room, 'No space, no time' depicts the artist's wife and son asleep. Two site-specific neons feature luminous text on one side and a face with half-closed eyes on the other, suggesting words as the intelligible expression of drawing. The title encourages viewers to abandon sight and let the body be enveloped by spatial tensions. Curated by Davide Ferri, the exhibition showcases Tuttofuoco's use of industrial materials and his emphasis on viewer presence within the artistic space.
