Patrick Tuttofuoco designs F1 trophy for Monza Grand Prix

artist · 2026-04-27

Pirelli commissioned Italian artist Patrick Tuttofuoco to create the trophy for the 2022 Monza Grand Prix, held on September 11, 2022. The three trophies, made of fluorescent colored methacrylate, are inspired by the Möbius strip, a topological figure symbolizing infinity. The work, titled Eon, references the largest chronological unit of Earth's age. The trophies were produced through a digital milling process followed by hand coloring. This marks the second consecutive year Pirelli has involved contemporary art in Formula 1, following Alice Ronchi's lightning-shaped sculpture for the 2021 Imola GP. Both years, the trophy was awarded to Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing. Pirelli, celebrating its 150th anniversary, collaborated with Pirelli Hangar Bicocca in Milan to mediate the project.
