Patrick Faigenbaum's Photographic Territories at Villa Medici
There's a new exhibition called 'Patrick Faigenbaum, Villa Médicis, Rome' that runs from October 4, 2013, to January 19, 2014. Jeff Wall designed it, while Jean-François Chevrier curated the show, which highlights Faigenbaum's work. It kicked off in Vancouver and starts with some of his black-and-white photos from the 1970s before moving into color images. The exhibition includes photos from cities such as Paris, Rome, Naples, Prague, Bremen, Tulle, and Santulussurgiu in Sardinia. A notable focus is on portraits of his family, especially his mother, alongside contact sheets that demonstrate his struggle with capturing an elusive subject. This showcase delves into themes of identity in contemporary photography and portraiture. Damien Sausset reviewed it for artpress.
