Patricia Phelps de Cisneros's Latin American Art Gifts Anchor Major Museum Exhibitions and Donations
Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, a well-known art collector and board member at the Museum of Modern Art, has made a lasting impact through her generous donations to various institutions. Her collection, which highlights Latin American art, is currently featured in an exhibition titled Sur moderno: Journeys of Abstraction at MoMA's newly expanded site in New York. Recently, in March, she lent 45 works from 33 artists to the Reina Sofía in Madrid, all created post-1990. Earlier this year, in January, she donated 202 pieces to Reina Sofía, MoMA, and five other museums. Additionally, she supports research fellowships and residencies, including a yearly travel grant through Independent Curators International. Her contributions to MoMA occurred from 1997 to 2016.
