Pastificio Cerere Foundation Celebrates 20 Years with New Exhibition Spaces and Angels Show

institutional · 2026-04-26

The Pastificio Cerere Foundation in Rome marks its 20th anniversary with the opening of new exhibition spaces and the group show "Angels. Cinquant’anni di storie del Pastificio Cerere," running from October 2 to November 30, 2024. The exhibition traces the history of the former pasta factory, which operated from 1905 to 1960 and became an artist hub in the 1970s. The foundation, established in 2004 by Flavio Misciattelli with artistic director Marcello Smarrelli, has focused on public art and community engagement. New spaces designed by studio STARTT include the Spazio Molini for permanent installations and a tunnel-like element. The permanent collection features works by Piero Pizzi Cannella, Agostino Iacurci, Riccardo Previdi, and Francesco Simeti. The exhibition includes archival materials and a chronological table by Giuseppe Stampone. Misciattelli also discusses the parallel project at Palazzo Chigi Zondadari in Siena, which hosts a show by Ukrainian artist Zhanna Kadyrova in collaboration with Galleria Continua. The foundation's model of activating historic spaces through contemporary art has been replicated in Siena, where a new Renaissance in contemporary art is emerging.
