Pasolini's first Rome home in Rebibbia opens as house-museum

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

Pier Paolo Pasolini's first apartment in Rome, located at Via Giovanni Tagliere 3 in the Rebibbia neighborhood, has been transformed into a house-museum. In 2022, film and TV producer Pietro Valsecchi purchased it at auction and later donated it to the Italian Ministry of Culture in 2024. This museum falls under the Istituto Pantheon e Castel Sant'Angelo, directed by Luca Mercuri. It’s open from Thursday to Sunday, offering free entry with online reservations. Pasolini lived here from 1951 to 1953, writing "Ragazzi di vita" and "Le ceneri di Gramsci." The museum includes a thematic library, educational programs, and collaborations with Rebibbia prison. For its first six months, it will feature a photography exhibit curated by Matilde Amaturo and Sabrina Corarze, funded by the Ministry of Culture's Piano Olivetti per la Cultura initiative. Valsecchi and his wife, Camilla Nesbit, will oversee the cultural activities.
