Parrot Bebe Explores Underwater in Custom-Built Submarine During Bahamas Trip

Steven Lawyer constructed a miniature submarine called the Bebesphere for his parrot Bebe, enabling the bird to experience underwater environments during their Bahamas vacation. The vessel, assembled from a plastic food container and a paintball air tank, allowed Bebe to observe Caribbean marine life for under 15 minutes. Following the viral Instagram video showing the parrot bobbing its head inside the submersible, Lawyer addressed safety concerns by explaining he conducted preliminary tests and a kitchen sink trial to ensure Bebe showed no distress signals. The bird participated willingly according to Lawyer, who noted Bebe had been fed and watered beforehand. This underwater excursion follows previous shared adventures including skiing, skydiving, and motorcycle rides. Lawyer told The Washington Post that Bebe prefers participating in activities rather than remaining confined.
