Parque Cultural Casa do Governador appoints new curatorial director to enhance artistic identity and launch arts school.

In Espírito Santo, the Parque Cultural Casa do Governador has selected a new curatorial director to define its artistic vision after its conversion from a private gubernatorial estate to a public park. This transformation was initiated by a sculpture competition in 2021, the first national cultural initiative led by Secretary of Culture Fabrício Noronha and Governor Renato Casagrande. The newly appointed director, who earned a PhD from Harvard and a master's from PUC-Rio, will collaborate with the Instituto de Arte Contemporânea (IAC), a Civil Society Organization, to manage the park. Plans include maintaining sculptures, reorganizing pathways, and replacing a large wall with a fence to enhance street engagement. A significant project on the horizon is the Escola Viva de Artes (EVA), a free school focused on environmental studies, agroforestry, and art, developed with pedagogical director Nathan Braga. Additionally, the park will feature the three-day event 'Desnaturada' in May, curated by Ailton Krenak, which will delve into themes of nature and ancestry. The director's interdisciplinary perspective, shaped by his father, poet Waly Salomão, and influences like Heloisa Teixeira, Marcelo Yuka, and Tunga, enriches his interpretation of art and literature as dynamic conversations.
