Parma 360 Festival: Memory and Contemporary Art Across the City

The ninth edition of Parma 360 Festival of Contemporary Creativity runs until May 25, 2025, across multiple historic venues in Parma, Italy. Curated by Chiara Canali and Camilla Mineo, the festival explores the theme of collective memory, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Italy's Liberation. Key exhibitions include: 'Se questo è un uomo' at Palazzo del Governatore, featuring 65 artists (including Pablo Picasso, Renato Guttuso, Francis Bacon, and Aldo Carpi) with works addressing war and human suffering; 'Mario Giacomelli. Questo ricordo lo vorrei raccontare' at Galleria San Ludovico, presenting the photographer's final series of about 100 images alongside 200 contact prints and a 1997 video documenting his creative process; 'Sensu. Pianeti Olfattivi' at Torre Viscontea, an olfactory art installation by Francesca Casale (Sensu) using wax discs infused with fragrances to evoke memory; and 'Come un segno di memoria' at Complesso di San Paolo, featuring illustrators Manuele Fior, Andrea Serio, Elisa Talentino, and Francesco Chiacchio, whose works reinterpret literary classics by Cesare Pavese and Beppe Fenoglio. The festival also includes a site-specific work by Sensu titled 'Roots Pipeline-biolet' and a publication by Katiuscia Biondi Giacomelli and Milo Montelli accompanying the Giacomelli show. The Giacomelli exhibition coincides with centenary retrospectives in Rome and Milan opening in May 2025.
