Parma 2023: Piranesi and Basilico in Dialogue at Palazzo del Governatore

The 2023 edition of Parma 360 festival, running until May 21, centers on crossover themes, with Palazzo del Governatore hosting two exhibitions. The main show, borrowed from Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice (original 2010), juxtaposes Giambattista Piranesi's 18th-century Roman vedute with Gabriele Basilico's contemporary photographs of the same views. Basilico, known for depopulated urban scenes, was challenged by tourist-filled Rome. A 3D digital reconstruction by Cristian Boiardi, using the Wellington collection, closes the exhibition.
