Parma 2020 Italian Capital of Culture: Full Program Unveiled
In 2020, Parma has been designated as the Italian Capital of Culture, showcasing a year-long initiative centered around the theme of 'Time' aimed at rejuvenating the city’s historical and cultural identity. Mayor Federico Pizzarotti emphasized the joint efforts of cultural, business, and academic communities. The inaugural weekend, from January 11 to 13, will feature a parade, ceremonies with President Sergio Mattarella, a videomapping show, and a performance of Puccini's Turandot at Teatro Regio. Notable exhibitions include 'Time Machine' at Palazzo del Governatore (January 11–May 3), 'Hospitale – Il futuro della memoria' at Ospedale Vecchio (April 24–October 10), and 'I Farnese: le arti, il potere. 1513–1731' at Palazzo della Pilotta (October 21–January 31, 2021). Google Arts & Culture will also digitize archives, with coordination from Emilia 2020.
