Parma 2020: call for cultural projects to enrich Italian Capital of Culture programme

Parma, named Italian Capital of Culture 2020 on February 16, 2018, has launched a call for cultural projects to expand its programme. The call targets third-sector and non-profit entities, public and private, seeking proposals aligned with the city's vision of transversality across culture, urban planning, social issues, and tourism. Projects must engage diverse audiences, foster networking, and address themes like culture and well-being, health, democracy, and enterprise. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2019, via a dedicated web platform active from December 17, 2018; a second selection phase runs February 1 to March 31, 2019. Evaluation criteria include alignment with the Parma 2020 concept, originality, innovation, creativity, inclusivity, and self-funding capacity. Francesca Velani, project coordinator, emphasized that the call offers an opportunity for those who missed the initial dossier-based programming and aims to co-create Parma's cultural future. Accompanying workshops on cultural project design will support applicants. The initiative builds on Parma's winning dossier "La cultura batte il tempo," praised for its high-quality territorial planning and ability to coordinate a complex system of public and private stakeholders across the region.
