Parliament of Pop Tackles Ticket Pricing at Bundestag

festival-fair · 2026-05-11

On May 20, 2026, the Paul-Löbe-Haus in Berlin will host the inaugural Parliament of Pop – Ticketing Goes Bundestag, a forum addressing soaring concert ticket prices. Organized by SPD MPs Johannes Fechner and Martin Rabanus, the event will gather politicians and industry experts to discuss five agenda items, including "True Crime Ticketing" and dynamic pricing. Fechner condemned secondary market exploitation, calling for clear rules to protect consumers. Rabanus emphasized that pop culture is democracy and concerts must remain accessible. The forum will feature international models like France's ticket market balance and a panel on dynamic pricing. Originally a traveling panel by music journalist Manfred Tari, Parliament of Pop debuted in Portugal in October 2020 and later appeared at Eurosonic Noorderslag, Reeperbahn Festival, and the European Parliament in Brussels in November 2025 with MEPs Hannes Heide and Bogdan Zdrojewski. In-person attendance requires accreditation; the event will also be live-streamed.
