Paris Photo to Launch First New York Edition in April 2020

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Paris Photo, the leading international photography fair, will hold its first New York edition from April 2 to 5, 2020, at Pier 94, the former venue of the Armory Show's contemporary section. After 23 years of growth, the fair now attracts around 200 galleries and over 68,000 visitors annually. The New York event will be a collaboration with AIPAD (International Association of Photography Art Dealers), which has organized The Photography Show since 1979. Rather than competing, the two organizations will merge their events, combining Paris Photo's international network with AIPAD's local expertise. AIPAD President Richard Moore expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that Paris Photo brings unique know-how and resources, allowing AIPAD to focus on nonprofit and educational initiatives. Florence Bourgeois, director of Paris Photo, stated that the transatlantic bridge between Paris and New York leverages the enthusiasm of long-standing exhibitors and the network of collectors and curators to tap into the US market. The selection committee members will be announced in the coming months, and participating galleries have yet to be revealed. The fair aims to strengthen the connection between the two cities that were cradles of photography.
