Paris Photo's 25th Edition Opens with Global Galleries and Social Themes
Paris Photo celebrates its 25th edition from November 9 to 13, 2022, at the Grand Palais Éphémère under director Florence Bourgeois. The fair features over 200 galleries from 31 countries, including 18 new international participants. Curated sections address climate change, gender equality, immigration, and humanitarian crises. Elles x Paris Photo, curated by Federica Chiocchetti, highlights women artists such as ORLAN and Marina Abramović. Alfredo Jaar presents a work on the Rwandan genocide. Galleria Alberto Damian of Treviso debuts with a tribute to Letizia Battaglia. Nature Morte from New Delhi introduces Bharat Sikka's exploration of gender identity. Karsten Greve showcases vintage works by Atget, Brassaï, and Steichen. Magnum Photos, celebrating its 75th anniversary, presents a selection curated by Martin Parr. The Curiosa section features emerging photographers Silvia Rosi and David Uzochukwu. Italian photography is spotlighted in the exhibition "Reverser ses yeux" at Jeu de Paume and LE BAL, co-produced with Triennale Milano, running until January 29, 2023, with over 200 works by 49 artists including Pistoletto, Paolini, Merz, Vaccari, Jodice, and Penone. Mimmo Jodice shows recent works from his series "L'Attesa" at Karsten Greve in the Marais.
