Paris Photo 2021: New Venue, Digital Platform, and Focus on Female Photographers
The Grand Palais Éphémère, designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, hosted Paris Photo 2021 from November 11 to 14, presenting over 190 galleries and 30 publishers from 30 nations, featuring a total of 863 artists. A digital platform, Viewing Rooms, was also accessible. The event comprised three sections: Principal, Curiosa, and Editions. Within the Principal sector, there were 19 monographic and 8 two-person exhibitions, showcasing talents like Jürgen Schadeberg and Cy Twombly. Curated by Shoair Mavlian, the Curiosa sector spotlighted emerging artists with 20 projects from 11 countries, including Antoine d'Agata and Sophie Calle. French Culture Minister Roselyne Bachelot emphasized photography's significance in portraying the world, while Elles x Paris Photo highlighted the contributions of 290 women artists.
