Paris Photo 2020 Cancelled Due to COVID-19 Surge in France

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

The 24th edition of Paris Photo, the world's leading international photography fair, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled for November 12–15, 2020 at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris, the fair was called off after the French government imposed a new limit of 1,000 attendees for large events, down from 5,000. Director Florence Bourgeois expressed regret but emphasized responsibility toward exhibitors, visitors, and partners. The cancellation follows the earlier cancellation of FIAC, Paris's major contemporary art fair, and is part of a global wave of art fair cancellations in 2020, including Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Basel in Switzerland, miart (which went digital), Frieze/Frieze Masters, Art Basel Miami Beach, and FIAC. The only major international fair still scheduled is Artissima in Turin, pending Italy's infection rates. Paris Photo will now take place from November 11–14, 2021 at the Grand Palais Éphémère.
