architecture-design · 2026-04-26

With less than 100 days until the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the Olympic Aquatics Centre (OAC) in Saint-Denis has been inaugurated by President Emmanuel Macron. Designed by VenhoevenCS and Ateliers 2/3/4/, the venue features four pools and will host diving, synchronized swimming, and water polo qualifiers, as well as Paralympic training. The building is designed for long-term community use, featuring one of France's largest solar parks with over 4,600 sqm of photovoltaic panels. Its concave wooden roof uses minimal materials, and the 5,000 spectator seats are made from 100% recycled plastic collected locally. The OAC has already won the Grand Prix BIM d'Or and Le Grand Prix du Grand Paris 2023.
