Paris l'été Festival Returns with Dance-Filled Program

The Paris l'été festival returns in July 2022 with 27 artistic propositions, curated by Laurence de Magalhaes and Stéphane Ricordel, who are set to lead the Théâtre du Rond-Point in 2023. The program emphasizes joy, festivity, and dance. Highlights include Angelin Preljocaj's Boléro performed in the Lefuel courtyard of the Louvre on July 11-12, featuring 13 dancers in white costumes by Igor Chapurin, inspired by cosmic black holes and the Parthenon frieze. Preljocaj also leads the Groupe urbain d'intervention dansée (G.U.I.D.) along the Seine and atop the Tour Montparnasse (July 14-16). Danish choreographer Mette Ingvartsen presents The Dancing Public at the Grand Palais Éphémère (through July 16), exploring historical dance epidemics like the 1518 Strasbourg dancing plague. Moroccan choreographer Fouad Boussouf's Näss (July 20-23 at Lycée Jacques Decour) blends hip-hop with Gnawa trance and Rif tribal reggada. Spanish company Kor'sia presents Igra at Lycée Jacques Decour (through July 16), revisiting Nijinsky's final choreography. Frédéri Vernier and Sébastien Davis-Vangelder perform Out of the Blue at Le Monfort (July 26-28), an aquatic ballet in a giant aquarium. Josef Nadj closes the festival with Omma at Lycée Jacques Decour (July 27-29), featuring eight African performers forming a single black body. The festival runs until July 31, 2022.
