Paris Exhibits Artworks Rescued from Notre Dame Fire
On April 15, 2019, the roof and spire of Notre Dame Cathedral were devastated by a fire. The restoration, which exceeds €800 million in costs and has received partial funding from François Pinault and Bernard Arnault, is anticipated to be completed by December 8, 2024. An ongoing exhibition titled "Notre-Dame de Paris. From builders to restorers," curated by Isabelle Marquette and Lisa Bergugnat, is being held at the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine until June 2, 2024. To commemorate the fire's fifth anniversary, a second exhibition at Mobilier National will feature artworks rescued from the blaze, including 17th-century paintings and the "Mays" collection, running from April 24 to July 21, 2024. This effort highlights the importance of preserving cultural heritage alongside new creations.
