Paris Design Week 2019: Luxury Interior Design and International Talents
During the 2019 Paris Design Week, which was associated with the Maison&Objet fair, the focus was on high-end luxury interior design. Laura Gonzalez received the title of Designer of the Year for her innovative approach to hybrid classicism. The tenth-anniversary exhibition of AD Intérieurs showcased ten architects, including Gonzalez and Hannes Peer, who transformed spaces using exquisite materials. Notable features included contributions from US designers Alex Brokamp and Bailey Fontaine, Poland's "Trans: Forming Design from Poland," and Lebanon's Minjara Editions collection. Italy's Rossana Orlandi represented ITA's campaign at BHV with her collection. The event also highlighted vases at the Collectible preview and Espace Commines, displaying works by Gaetano Di Gregorio among others. Meanwhile, the local Parisian design scene outside of luxury faced challenges, reflecting social disparities in aesthetic preferences.
