Paris Calling: French Art Scene Invades London
Launched in June 2006 and continuing until January 2007, Paris Calling is an initiative aimed at enhancing the artistic connections between France and Britain, taking place at more than twenty locations in London. The official opening occurred on October 31 at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Developed by Sophie Claudel from the French Embassy and CulturesFrance, this project emerged after three years of discussions among art experts. In 2005, approximately thirty British professionals traveled to Paris, with only four opting out. Key partnerships include 'Archipeintures' at Camden Arts Centre and Le Plateau, along with the Barbican Art Gallery's 'Future City'. Noteworthy features include Loris Gréaud's Frieze Projects and Daniel Buren's work at Modern Art Oxford, challenging national identities in today's global art scene.
