Paris Bourse de Commerce to Host Major Arte Povera Exhibition in Fall 2024

exhibition · 2026-04-27

In autumn 2024, the Bourse de Commerce in Paris will unveil a significant exhibition dedicated to Arte Povera, under the curation of Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev. The exhibition, aptly named 'Arte Povera', is scheduled to take place from September 25, 2024, to March 24, 2025. It will showcase pieces from the Pinault Collection, complemented by loans from the Castello di Rivoli—where Christov-Bakargiev was director for two decades until January 2024, when Francesco Manacorda took over—and various public and private collections from Italy and France. The focus will be on thirteen pivotal artists, including Giovanni Anselmo and Alighiero Boetti. This exhibition aims to illustrate how Arte Povera reshaped contemporary art by utilizing simple materials and rejecting excessive intellectualism. This follows a previous tribute in Paris during autumn 2022, organized by the Jeu de Paume and LE BAL, with support from Triennale Milano. Additionally, Giuseppe Penone has recently been appointed an associate foreign member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Paris, marking him as the sole Italian in the institution.
