Parcours. Mode Bijoux Design: Jewelry and Fashion at Musée des Arts Décoratifs
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris presents 'Parcours. Mode Bijoux Design', an exhibition spanning five floors of the Palais de Marsan with views over the Tuileries. Drawing from the museum's vast collections of fashion, jewelry, and design—both historical and recently acquired—the show traces stylistic evolution from the 20th to the 21st century. It features around thirty haute couture and prêt-à-porter pieces by designers including John Galliano for Christian Dior, Olivier Rousteing for Balmain, Paco Rabanne, Rick Owens, Issey Miyake, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino, Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli, and Jeanne Vicerial. These are juxtaposed with about a hundred jewelry pieces and bijoux from houses like Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, as well as independent creators such as Claude Chavent, Jean Déspres, Claude Lalanne, Ettore Sottsass, Lisa Walker, and Alberto Zorzi. Design objects by Ron Arad, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Andrea Branzi, the Campana brothers, Konstantin Grcic, Marc Newson, Charlotte Perriand, Gaetano Pesce, and Jean Prouvé are also included. The exhibition is organized thematically, with sections on materiality, abstract styles, upcycling, and innovative materials like resin, altuglas, and electroformed nylon. Italian representation highlights Ettore Sottsass and Alberto Zorzi, the latter known for his 'lamellar modularity' and ties to the Padua School. The show runs at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
