Parco Archeologico del Colosseo's participatory sustainability model raises €3M in three years
The Parco Archeologico del Colosseo, established in 2017 and operational since early 2018, has pioneered a participatory fundraising model that raised €3 million in three years through sponsorships and partnerships. Director Alfonsina Russo explains that investing in culture develops ethical values and civic sense. The park includes the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and Domus Aurea. Partnerships include Fendi for restoration of the Temple of Venus and Rome, Q8 for a digital tour of Piranesi's etchings, Rizzoli for restoring Farnese Collection statues, and local associations for producing honey and olive oil. A portion of donations goes to charitable causes, and ticket revenues support the broader Roman and national museum system. The team includes Russo and Ines Arletti.
