Paratissima Torino Moves to Former Artillery Academy in City Center

Paratissima, the contemporary art fair dedicated to emerging talents, is relocating for its 15th edition. After two years at the former Caserma La Marmora in Turin's Precollina district, the fair will take place from October 30 to November 3 at the ex-Accademia Artiglieria in Piazzetta Accademia Militare, near Piazza Castello. The new venue doubles the exhibition space to over 10,000 square meters and is located in the city center, improving accessibility. The building, owned by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), was previously used as a military academy and later as headquarters for the 1° Reparto Infrastrutture dell'Esercito Italiano until recently. Its future use after the fair is uncertain. The theme for the 2019 edition is "Multiversity," exploring the plurality of worlds and multiplication of viewpoints. The visual identity features an artwork from Nicola Lorusso's Hackoustic Series, which translates sound into three-dimensional forms using audio-driven algorithms; the specific image is a 3D rendering of Kaki King's song "You Don't Have To Be Afraid." Applications are open until September 3, 2019.
