Paratissima Art Station Kicks Off Turin Pre-Art Week with Hybrid Format
Paratissima has launched its 2020 edition as Paratissima Art Station, a multi-stage fair spread over two months, beating other Turin art fairs by ten days. The first stop, dedicated to visual arts, opened at the ARTiglieria Nice & Fair – Contemporary Visions complex, with limited capacity (200 people per hour, 50 every 15 minutes) and mandatory advance booking. Eleven young curators from the N.I.C.E. program present over 80 artists in five group shows exploring themes like social distancing and lockdown adaptation. Eight individual curated projects under I.C.S. feature 30 independent artists, including Belgian artist David Delruelle's exhibition "Assembramenti" curated by Cécile Angelini, who previously curated "Contaminazione" at the OGR Covid hospital. Four collateral exhibitions run until December 8: Lorenzo Puglisi's solo show "L'Immortalità" curated by Luca Beatrice; Eleonora Gugliotta's "Scorie Microcosmiche" with sculptural threads; "Think Big! The Oversize Artwork Project" with six site-specific installations; and "Astrazione 1X5" comparing five abstract artists, organized by the Juliet association. The fair proceeds amid rising COVID-19 cases that have forced other fairs like Artissima and Flashback to adopt hybrid formats, while Nesxt has been cancelled. Dama and The Others are still organizing their events.
