Parasite 2.0 Transforms Milan Bookstore into Desert Installation
The Milan-based architecture collective Parasite 2.0—Stefano Columbo, Eugenio Cosentino, and Luca Marullo—has created 'Books from the Wilderness' at Libreria 121+ in Milan, an installation that reimagines the bookstore as a desert landscape. The project, on view until February 2, 2018, at Corraini Edizioni's space on Via Savona 17, uses sponges and rubber to simulate dunes, evoking erosion and memory. The collective, winners of the Yap Maxxi 2016 award and participants in the Venice Architecture Biennales of 2012 and 2014, selected books that align with their vision of the desert as a site of rebirth rather than desolation. Corraini Edizioni, known for its historic collaboration with Bruno Munari, has reprinted its 10×10 artist books from the 1970s for the occasion. The installation transforms the entire venue into a single artwork, blurring the line between container and content.
