Parallel Vienna 2026 Returns to Otto Wagner Areal for 14th Edition

Parallel Vienna, the alternative art fair known for its raw, unpolished approach, will hold its 14th edition from September 9–13, 2026, at the Otto Wagner Areal in Vienna, Austria. The fair, which takes over rooms in a former psychiatric hospital, deliberately avoids the polished presentation of conventional fairs, with exhibitors adapting to the architecture's constraints. This marks the fourth consecutive year at the venue, located at Baumgartner Höhe 1, 1140 Vienna. Catapult, an independent editorial platform for contemporary art based in Vienna, has covered the fair annually since 2021, first as Munchies Art Club, and will provide coverage of the 2026 edition. Previous editions featured over 600 artists, with institutions like Kunsthalle Graz presenting solo shows, such as Beate Gatschelhofer in 2023. Notable past participants include artists Hannah Neckel and Lea Neckel, Hanakam and Schuller (shown by Gallery Krinzinger), Rade Petrasevic (Büro Weltausstellung), and Christian Eisenberger. The fair's organizer is Parallel Vienna, and it is promoted as Vienna's answer to more polished fair-season stops, with its roughness being intentional.
