Paradise Kortrijk 2021: Interactive Art Triennial Opens in Flanders
The Kortrijk Triennial's second edition, named Paradise, commenced on June 26, 2021, and will continue until October 24, 2021. This free exhibition, curated by Hilde Teerlinck from the Han Nefkens Foundation and Patrick Ronse of Be-Part, showcases interactive pieces from 32 artists, designers, choreographers, and set designers, both Belgian and international. Among the notable contributors are Yoko Ono, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Jeremy Deller, and fashion duo Viktor&Rolf. Building on the 2018 theme of Play, this year's focus is on the idea of Paradise, presented in various indoor and outdoor locations throughout Kortrijk. The city is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage site Begijnhof and the historic Biennale Interieur, which has postponed its 27th edition to 2022 due to the pandemic. Additionally, a new initiative, Please Have a Seat, will debut in October 2021 as a recurring event in odd years.
