Para Site awards NoExit Grant to 25 Hong Kong artists for unpaid labor
Para Site in Hong Kong has announced the selection of 25 individuals for its NoExit Grant for Unpaid Artistic Labour, with each recipient receiving HKD20,000 (£1,899). This program, characterized as a residency that does not require travel, is aimed at supporting artists based in Hong Kong or those from the region living abroad, without the necessity for new projects or research proposals. A panel, which included artists Ocean Leung, Wong Ka Ying, and Samson Young, as well as Para Site's curator Celia Ho and education curator Anqi Li, evaluated over 110 submissions to determine the awardees. Among the recipients are Suze Chan, Chan Ting, and Wong Winsome Dumalagan, among others. The grant seeks to alleviate the challenges of unpaid artistic work by providing financial assistance without the usual residency limitations.
