Paolo Virzì's 'La pazza gioia' at Cannes Directors' Fortnight

Paolo Virzì's film 'La pazza gioia' was selected for the Directors' Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival. The inspiration came from an episode on the set of 'Il capitale umano' where actresses Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Micaela Ramazzotti approached him hand-in-hand in the rain. The film is a bittersweet comedy about two lonely, desperate women who discover friendship. Co-written with Francesca Archibugi, it pays homage to classics like 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', 'A Streetcar Named Desire', and 'Il sorpasso'. The movie will be released in Italian theaters with nearly 400 copies.
