Paolo Ventura's Dreamlike Photographs Open Armani/Silos in Milan
Paolo Ventura's exhibition 'Racconti immaginari' (Imaginary Tales) inaugurates the reopening of Armani/Silos in Milan, occupying the entire ground floor with around one hundred works including photographs, stage sets, selected objects, and painted backdrops. The show is structured in three projects: 'The Automaton' (2010), set in Venice during wartime, tells the story of a man who builds a robot for companionship; 'Short Stories' (2013-2015); and 'La Città Infinita' (2013-2018), which evokes de Chirico's metaphysical architectures and presents new works created specifically for Armani/Silos. The exhibition concludes with the documentary 'The Vanishing Man' (2014) by director Erik van Empel about the artist's life. Ventura, born in Milan in 1968, creates dreamlike atmospheres with pale colors and silent, ecstatic voids that guide the viewer along unusual perspectives, telling intimate and touching stories.
