Paolo Tarsi Releases Double Album 'A Perfect Cut in the Vacuum'

publication · 2026-05-04

Italian composer Paolo Tarsi has released a double album titled 'A Perfect Cut in the Vacuum', following his 2016 EP 'Petit Wunderkammer'. The album is divided into two parts: 'Unique Forms Of Continuity In Sound' and 'Artificially Intelligent'. The first part references Umberto Boccioni's sculpture 'Unique Forms of Continuity in Space' and explores a sonic metamorphosis contrasting horror pleni with horror vacui. The second part features a track remixed multiple times, reflecting on hyper-informatized daily life and artificial intelligence. Collaborators include former Kraftwerk members Eberhard Kranemann, Lothar Manteuffel, and Emil Schult, as well as members of Tangerine Dream, Afterhours, Tuxedomoon, King Crimson, and others. The album was preceded by an exhibition titled 'Bad Consumers' at Sala Dogana in Palazzo Ducale, Genoa, featuring works by Luca Domeneghetti, Emiliano Zucchini, Roberto Masotti, Roberto Rossini, Emil Schult, and Ahmed Emad Eldin. Tarsi describes his style as avant-pop electronic, blending American minimalism with electro-pop, ambient, krautrock, and techno. He has also composed music for museum exhibitions, including a monographic show on Paolo Cotani and works for Fluxus artists. His video collaborations have been presented at Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry, Athens Digital Arts Festival, Musma in Matera, and Palazzo Ducale in Genoa.
