Paolo Roversi's Pirelli Calendar 2020 Celebrates Diversity

Paolo Roversi, the first Italian photographer commissioned for the Pirelli Calendar, presents 'Looking for Juliet' for The Cal 2020. Departing from the calendar's history of glamorous top models and film stars, this edition celebrates love, youth, strength, and personality. Roversi, born in Ravenna in 1947 and trained in Paris in the 1970s, pioneered the use of 20×25 Polaroid film, blending art, fashion, and photography. His career began with publications in Elle and Depeche Mode, and he was established in 1980 with a Christian Dior campaign, later working with Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent, and Givenchy. The calendar's protagonists include Emma Watson, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and advocate for gender equality; Yara Shahidi, actress and activist against racial prejudice; Indya Moore, the first transgender model to walk for major fashion houses; singers Rosalía and Chris Lee; actresses Kristen Stewart, Claire Foy, and Mia Goth; and special guest Stella Roversi, an artist and model. The project emphasizes diversity, capturing women in the act of reciting, posing, or singing, highlighting their most significant personality traits rather than conventional beauty standards.
