Paolo Gonzato's 'Baracche' at Camp Design Gallery, Milan

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Paolo Gonzato (Busto Arsizio, 1975) presents his solo exhibition 'Baracche' at Camp Design Gallery in Milan. The show features seven large polished glass fragments that replicate industrial onduline sheets, held to the wall by brass hooks and backlit with LED lights. These pieces evoke the ephemeral architecture of roadside shacks made from corrugated metal. Gonzato's work plays with contrasts between trapped pigments and rear lighting, liquid forms and worn edges, creating a delicate poetic landscape. The glass fragments are produced using the float glass process, an industrial method developed in the late 1950s where molten glass is floated on a bath of molten tin in a controlled atmosphere, resulting in smooth surfaces on both sides. The exhibition title 'Baracche' (shacks) alludes to temporary structures, while the works themselves are massive yet fragile commissioned pieces. The show is curated by Ginevra Bria, art critic and curator at Isisuf – International Institute of Futurism Studies in Milan.
