Paolo Cavinato's Kaleidoscope Installation at Palazzo Ducale, Mantua

Paolo Cavinato (born 1975) has created a large environmental installation titled 'Kaleidoscope' in the Sala del Pisanello of Palazzo Ducale in Mantua. The work was produced for the dual solo exhibition 'Your Place or Mine', which also features Vittorio Corsini, curated by Peter Assmann and Renata Casarin. The installation manipulates space physically and philosophically, offering an unusual perspectival play that is kaleidoscopic. Unlike Cavinato's previous works centered on symmetry and a fixed central viewpoint, this piece constructs space by intertwining situations, paths, and force directions derived from the traces of Pisanello's frescoes. The walkable structure resembles a skeleton, a fossil, a fragment—a remnant of an architectural edifice from a remote yet futuristic time.
