Paolo Canevari's 'Tutti giù per terra' retrospective opens at MO.CA in Brescia

MO.CA – Centro per le Nuove Culture in Brescia presents Paolo Canevari's major retrospective 'Tutti giù per terra,' running until April 19, 2026. Curated by Ilaria Bignotti and Camilla Remondina, the exhibition features twenty paintings and sculptures alongside seven monumental installations, including 'Hanging Around' (2006/2008), 'Mamma' (2000), 'Constellation (Monumenti della memoria)' (2018), 'Landscape' (2005), 'Bombs' (1999), 'Materia oscura' (1990-2026), and 'Wandered (Infinite Ways)' (2002). Works are displayed in the Spazio espositivo and the Appartamento nobile of Palazzo MO.CA at Via Moretto 78. The show, produced by E3 arte contemporanea in collaboration with the Comune di Brescia, includes pieces from 1990 to the present, such as 'Bucranio' (2006), 'Lupa romana,' 'Serpente,' 'Totem,' and 'Black book.' At the opening, Canevari performed with 'Materia Oscura,' a 1990 sculpture referencing dark matter and societal oppression. His practice over three decades examines time and memory, repurposing symbols of power using materials like rubber tires and motor oil on paper. The exhibition is open Wednesday to Sunday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with free admission.
