Paola Tognon appointed director of Museo della Città di Livorno

Paola Tognon, an art historian and curator from Bergamo born in 1965, has been named the first director of the Museo della Città di Livorno, which opened in April 2018. She is the founder of The Blank and Contemporary Locus. The appointment follows an open call issued in June by Antonio Bertelli of the Comune di Livorno, seeking a scientific director for the city's museums, including the Museo Civico Giovanni Fattori. The role is for a one-year term aligned with the municipal administration. Tognon's project emphasized identity and participation. She plans to deepen her knowledge of the city's heritage starting in September and establish programmatic lines for the new museum. Tognon stated she was born in institutions and believes in networks, collaboration, and the importance of heritage. She has nine months to launch the new venture.
