Paola Pivi's 'World Record' mattress installation at Maxxi Rome

Paola Pivi's exhibition at the Maxxi in Rome, curated by Hou Hanru and Anne Palopoli and running until September 8, features a site-specific project combining historical and recent works. The centerpiece, 'World Record,' is a giant expanse of mattresses covering over 100 square meters, with an identical upside-down layer above, creating a padded cavern for play or meditation. At the entrance, a dense web of yellow and red knotted cushions hangs overhead. Intense fragrances emanate from sculptures of tiny sofas dripping with perfume. The space is completely rethought, encouraging public interaction.
