Paola Pivi's Bear Invasion at La Rinascente in Milan

Paola Pivi has taken over the street-level windows of La Rinascente in Milan with her signature bears, in a project curated by Cloe Piccoli. Titled 'I am tired of eating fish,' the installation features large white, pink, and purple bears peering out from windows facing the Duomo, inviting selfies and photos. Pivi, who lives in Alaska, drew inspiration from her encounters with real bears there. The project is part of La Rinascente's long history of commissioning art, which dates back to the 1920s and includes collaborations with Bruno Munari, Giò Ponti, and the Compasso d'Oro. Recent window projects have featured Olafur Eliasson, Martino Gamper, and John Armleder. Pivi is also a finalist for the High Line Plinth in New York, a program curated by Cecilia Alemani, with two winners to be selected in 2018. Additionally, she served as special guest juror for the Premio Moroso, which announced a shortlist of 12 artists for its sixth edition, including Alfredo Aceto, Canemorto, Roberto Fassone, and others. The artists will meet industry professionals at a private breakfast on March 31 at the Moroso showroom during miart and Salone del Mobile. The works remain the property of the artist.
