Paola Angelini and Aryan Ozmaei create Quintana banners and CIAC street window in Foligno

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Paola Angelini (San Benedetto del Tronto, 1983) and Aryan Ozmaei (Tehran, 1976) are featured in a dual exhibition at CIAC Gallery, the street window of CCSE (Centro per la Cultura e lo Sviluppo Economico) in Foligno, curated by Marta Silvi and Pier Luigi Metelli. The show, part of the Arte per tutti project, runs until October 13. The artists have also been commissioned to create the Palio banners for the 2019 Quintana jousting tournament: Ozmaei painted the Palio della Sfida (oil on canvas, presented in June) and Angelini the Palio della Rivincita (mixed media on jute, for the September 15 giostra). This continues a tradition that previously involved Thomas Braida, Adelaide Cioni, Tomaso de Luca, Gabriele Porta, Matteo Fato, and Nicola Samorì. The organizers, including Luca Radi of the Ente's artistic commission, noted that choosing two women artists marks a step toward cultural inclusivity. Angelini describes her painting as layered temporal overlays and stylistic assemblages, while Ozmaei emphasizes self-discovery and expressive balance. The works are freely viewable from Piazzetta Sant'Angela. The artists also answered three questions about their practice.
