Pantone announces Classic Blue as Color of the Year 2020

Pantone has selected Classic Blue 19-4052 as its Color of the Year for 2020, replacing the 2019 Living Coral. The choice was made by the Pantone Color Institute, which annually analyzes trends across industries to set the color. Laurie Pressman, vice president of the institute, described the shade as reassuring, calm, and connective. The Color of the Year initiative began in 1999 with Cerulean for 2000, a tone that captured both excitement and anxiety for the new millennium. Classic Blue, reminiscent of twilight sky, is meant to provide a stable foundation as the world enters a new era. The color influences product development and purchasing decisions in fashion, interior design, industrial design, packaging, and graphic design.
