Panorama 11 at Le Fresnoy: Archipelago of Experiences

The eleventh edition of Panorama at Le Fresnoy, titled 'Un archipel d'expériences', ran from June 13 to July 26, 2009, in Tourcoing, France. Curated by Régis Durand, the exhibition showcased works by both students and professors, emphasizing the transmission of art through a Deleuzian model of interconnected plateaus. Notable artists included Joseph David, Matthieu Ravez, Clorinde Durand, Eduardo Kac, Jane Leblond, and Enrique Ramirez. Kac's tableau-biotope integrated scientific concerns into the work's existence, while Leblond's 'Set' served as a mobile cinematic-theatrical plateau at the archipelago's epicenter. Ramirez's film 'Horizon' offered a symbolic allegory of the immigrant condition. The exhibition highlighted video, digital, and new technologies, though a tension emerged between the archipelago's positive contamination and more autarkic, controlled subjectivation. Founder Alain Fleischer invoked historical parallels with the Bauhaus, advocating for synergy of individual resources toward a common ideal. Durand also curated 'Fables et fragments' at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris, featuring 2008 graduates with jury commendations.
