Pandolfini Spring Auctions: Artemisia Gentileschi, Zandomeneghi, Morbelli in Florence

On May 14, 2025, Pandolfini holds its spring auction at Palazzo Ramirez Montalvo in Florence, featuring Old Masters and 19th-century paintings across two sessions. The first session (57 lots) includes a rare 'Madonna dell'Umiltà' by Jacobello del Fiore (estimate €25,000-35,000), a Flemish triptych (€20,000-30,000), and Artemisia Gentileschi's 'Cleopatra' (€130,000-150,000), painted around the late 1620s or early 1630s. Other highlights: 'Martirio di San Biagio' by the Master of Fontanarosa (€30,000-50,000), an unpublished 'San Giovanni Battista' by Filippo Tarchiani (€30,000-50,000), 'Giocatori di carte' by Pseudo Salini (€30,000-50,000), and two allegories by Francesco Corneliani (€40,000-60,000). The second session (42 lots) features Angelo Morbelli's unpublished mountain landscape 'Pinetina di Santa Caterina' (1913, estimate €100,000-120,000), exhibited in 1913 at the Società Promotrice delle Belle Arti di Torino and in 1914 at the Società delle Belle Arti ed Esposizione Permanente di Milano, never shown publicly since. Federico Zandomeneghi offers three works: 'L’Attente' (€85,000-100,000), 'Buste de femme drapée de velours' (€60,000-80,000), and 'Pivonies blanches' (€18,000-25,000). Also on offer: Beppe Ciardi's 'Circo equestre' (€60,000-80,000) and Giovanni Boldini's 'Natura morta con due fagiani' (€80,000-100,000). The auction spans 16th to 18th centuries, with many unpublished works from prestigious private collections.
